We’ve had the fol­low­ing mes­sage from thos co-​ordinating the KAH col­lec­tions for Ukraine:

As we begin another school week, we wanted to take the time to send you a mes­sage of thanks for the sup­port that your school com­mu­nity have shown to the peo­ple of Ukraine.

As of Sat­ur­day night, 8 HGV lor­ries have been sent to the Ukraine full with dona­tions from all across Kent. We are for­tu­nate that our lor­ries are cur­rently get­ting directly into the Ukraine to those that need it more. Many aid vehi­cles are only allowed as far as Poland/​the boarders.

On behalf of all the team at Bigjigs/​Kent Help for Ukraine, please pass on our sin­cere thanks to your pupils, par­ents, staff and wider com­mu­nity for their tremen­dous effort in pro­vid­ing aid for those fam­i­lies in Ukraine. We look for­ward to con­tin­u­ing to sup­port this project in the weeks ahead.

KES Careers Week and KES Exhi­bi­tion Fair

A suc­cess­ful week from 7th-​11th March 2022 with a range of Career-​related activ­i­ties tak­ing place. Our Year 7 stu­dents enjoyed access­ing the online vir­tual Careers Fair plat­form in their PPS lessons. On Wednes­day we held our annual Exhi­bi­tion Fair in the hall/​quad where over 40 stands rep­re­sented busi­nesses and higher edu­ca­tion providers. Stu­dents from Year 8 to 13 spent an hour explor­ing the dif­fer­ent career and edu­ca­tion providers, many very infor­ma­tive con­ver­sa­tions were had and stu­dents engaged so well, mak­ing use of the oppor­tu­ni­ties to speak to pro­fes­sion­als from many dif­fer­ent industries.

Thank you to the organ­i­sa­tions that attended on the day: Mears, On Archi­tec­ture, WW Mar­tin, Lon­don Insti­tute of Bank­ing and Finance, Lloyds Bank, Mercy Ships, Broad­stairs Col­lege, Can­ter­bury Christ Church Uni­ver­sity, Blaze Signs, UCA, Fash­ion, RDDS Avion­ics, Sum­mit Avi­a­tion, Bar­retts Motor Group, Care­mark Thanet, NHS, Hair Sta­tion Acad­emy, Your Leisure, 2gether Sup­port Solu­tions, Inclu­sive Sport, Briar House Vet­eri­nary Surgery, Kent Law Soci­ety, Can­ter­bury Com­bined Law Courts, RAF, Kent Police, Royal Navy, Army, Cyber­fort, Thanet Earth, EBP Kent — Careers

Year 12 attended work­shops and took part in mock inter­views which was really ben­e­fi­cial prepa­ra­tion for their next steps.

Other Career-​related activ­i­ties included an appren­tice­ship focus day, a subject-​specific careers focus day and also stu­dents watched a num­ber of videos from staff/​ex-​students/​the local com­mu­nity regard­ing their own career jour­neys. To watch the videos — click here!
